Motion Rehab: A Serious Game for Elderly Individuals with Stroke Sequelae
Abstract
The use of games as a tool for physical and cognitive rehabilitation has been consolidated as a practical alternative to conventional processes. However, there are still a small number of interactive solutions that meet the particular needs of the elderly public. Therefore, this paper describes the development of a serious game for intervention in elderly patients with sequel of cerebrovascular accident in a 2D virtual environment. We used for development the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE, the XNA framework and the Kinect motion sensor. Future a review of the game will be held to determine whether its use will promote some benefit to physical and / or cognitive level.
