The Proceedings of the 5th Workshop in Information and Human Language Technology (TIL 2007) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Rio de Janeiro/RJ, Brazil, from June 30 to July 6, 2007, as part of the 27th Brazilian Computing Society Congress (CSBC 2007), which had the theme "Interaction between the Sciences: A Challenge for Information Technology". In this issue, the proceedings include 16 full papers and 12 posters. These papers were selected through a peer review. This volume was organized by Violeta de San Tiago Dantas Barbosa Quental (PUC-Rio) and Cláudia Maria Garcia Medeiros de Oliveira (IME), the event chairs.
