The Proceedings of the 13th Brazilian Symposium on Bioinformatics (BSB 2020) held online, on 23-28 November 2020. In this issue, the proceedings include 20 full papers and 5 short papers. These papers were selected from a total of 45 submissions. The papers address a broad range of current topics in computational biology and bioinformatics. The general chair of BSB 2020 was Prof. Daniel de Oliveira (UFF). The program committee was coordinated by Prof. Joao C. Setubal (USP) and Prof. Waldeyr M. C. da Silva (IFG) who organized this volume. The articles were published in 2020 by Springer Nature Switzerland AG in a volume of Advances in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. The articles in this volume were submitted on 09/18/2020, accepted for publication on 10/14/2020, with the final version submitted on 10/20/2020.
