The Proceedings of the 16th Medical Informatics Workshop (WIM 2016) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Porto Alegre, during the period July 4 to 7, as part of the 36th Brazilian Computing Society Congress (CSBC 2016)  which had the theme "Computing and Interdisciplinarity". The event's program committee was coordinated by Debora Saade (UFF), who organized this volume. The articles in this volume were submitted on March 27, accepted for publication on May 23, with the final version submitted on May 30.
