The Proceedings of the 8th National Meeting on Artificial Intelligence (ENIA 2011) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Natal/RN, Brazil, from July 19 to 22, 2011, as part of the 31st Brazilian Computing Society Congress (CSBC 2011) which had the theme "Computing for All: On the Path to Social Evolution". In this issue, the proceedings include 62 full papers. These papers were selected through a peer review, from a total of 176 full papers submitted, which implied an acceptance rate of 35.2%. The event's program committee was coordinated by Graçaliz Pereira Dimuro (FURG), who organized this volume. The articles in this volume were submitted on 04/10/2011, accepted for publication on 05/12/2011, with the final version submitted on 05/26/2011.
