The Proceedings of the 1st Theory of Computation Meeting (ETC 2016) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Porto Alegre, during the period July 4 and 7, as part of the 36th Brazilian Computing Society Congress (CSBC 2016)  which had the theme "Computing and Interdisciplinarity". The articles in this volume were submitted on May 1, accepted for publication on May 25, with the final version submitted on June 3.
