The Proceedings of the 33rd Brazilian Symposium on Databases (SBBD 2018) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Rio de Janeiro/RJ, from August 25-26, 2018. In this issue, the proceedings include 17 full papers and 17 short papers. The review process of the full papers was carried out in a round with a rebuttal phase. Authors were initially notified with reviews and were given a few days to respond to reviewers' comments. The event's program committee was coordinated by Bernadette F. Lóscio (UFPE), who organized this volume.
