The Proceedings of the 27th Brazilian Symposium on Informatics in Education (SBIE 2016) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held from October 24 to 27, 2016, in Uberlândia/MG, Brazil, as part of the V Brazilian Congress on Informatics in Education (CBIE 2016), which had the theme “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Technological and Educational Development.” In this issue, the proceedings include 119 full papers and 27 short papers. These papers were selected through a double-blind peer review process. The event’s Program Committee was coordinated by André Raabe (UNIVALI), who organized this volume together with Fabiano Azevedo Dorça (UFU), Hiran Nonato M. Ferreira (UFU), Miller Miranda Mendes (UFU), and Rafael Dias Araújo (UFU), CBIE 2018 Publications Chairs.
SBIE 2016 included five thematic tracks:
- Track 1: Technological and Methodological Aspects in Computational Environments and Systems for Teaching/Learning (platforms, architectures, mobile devices, etc.), coordinated by Leônidas Brandão (USP);
- Track 2: Games, Simulation, Gamification, Metacognition, and Neuroscience in Computational Environments and Systems for Teaching/Learning, coordinated by Sérgio Crespo (UFF);
- Track 3: Human-Computer Interaction, Inclusion and Accessibility in Computational Environments and Systems for Teaching/Learning, coordinated by Alex Sandro Gomes (UFPE);
- Track 4: Intelligence in Computational Environments and Systems for Teaching/Learning (Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Tutoring Systems, Semantic Web, Data Mining), coordinated by Fabiano Dorça (UFU);
- Track 5: CSCW as Support for Teaching/Learning, coordinated by Lucia Giraffa (PUCRS).
