The Proceedings of the 23rd Workshop on Computing at School (WIE 2017) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Recife/CE from October 30 to November 2nd, 2017, as part of the 6th Brazilian Congress on Computers in Education (CBIE 2017) which had the theme "Learning of Things". In this issue, the proceedings include 115 full papers and 18 short papers, which were selected through a double-blind peer review, with an acceptance rate of 37.5%. The event's Program Committee was coordinated by José Aires de Castro Filho (UFC) who organized this volume together with Rafael Dias Araújo (UFU). The papers in this volume were submitted on June 09, 2017, accepted for publication on July 31, 2017, with the camera-ready version submitted on August 15, 2017.

WIE 2017 included three tracks:

  • Track 1: Experience reports on the use of digital information and communication technologies (ICT) in education, coordinated by Dennys Leite Maia (UFRN) and Raquel Santiago Freire (UFC), pages 01 to 704 (full papers) and pages 1129 to 1183 (short papers);
  • Track 2: Training of human resources for the use of digital information and communication technologies (ICT) in education, coordinated by José Aires de Castro Filho (UFC), pages 705 to 894 (full papers) and pages 1184 to 1198 (short papers); and,
  • Track 3: Impacts of digital information and communication technologies (ICT) on society, coordinated by Henrique Schneider (UFS), pages 895 to 1128 (full papers) and pages 1199 to 1216 (short papers).
